Middle School 3-Day Camp

Letter to Campers and Parents

You are receiving this message because you or your son/daughter will be attending the Sunday School camp this Friday June 19 to Sunday June 21 (or are serving with us at the camp). Hope you/your kids are all excited about the camp this upcoming weekend. God willing, we are looking forward to having a great weekend in Christian Fellowship, fun, and enjoying the outdoors. We will be camping at Yogi Bear Campground in Caledonia, WI

5 Key Points:

  • Liturgy attendance on Friday is mandatory
  • Do not bring your Phones, they will be collected
  • No excessive rough housing, always be a Kind Christian
  • Pay attention the attire section below (for both boys and girls)
  • There is an optional activity: a new water park obstacle course that is an additional $30, parents must sign another waiver and pre-pay if your child wants to do this.

Theme

Our theme this year “The Pursuit of Holiness” and we will discuss Our journey to holiness, how to implement God in our everyday life. We have about 50 kids and 15 servants and we look forward to having a great time altogether.

Liturgy & Departure

First of all, we are blessed again this year to have a special Liturgy for us on Friday - the day we are leaving, because we will not be attending liturgy on Sunday. Please make sure that you arrive at church early Friday so you can take advantage of the Liturgy. The liturgy starts at 9:00am and will be finishing by 11:00am. Please be sure to wear church clothing (no shorts) for the Liturgy. If you cannot attend the Liturgy due to a conflict, you must let me know in advance. After Liturgy, we will pass out sandwiches for lunch, pack up and then leave church on the bus by Noon. We will be returning to church on Sunday by 2:00 PM God willing.

Activities

Remember that this is an opportunity to enjoy outdoor activities and fellowship with one another - we do not want the youth to be staring at screens. Phones and electronic games are not allowed. Phones are not needed; we communicate with parents in a group Whatsapp chat or call one of the 15 servants.

At this campground, there are lots of activities nearly all activities are included, except the water park obstacle course, that is an additional $30 fee, and parent waiver. If you choose to have your child do this, a parent or guardian MUST PAY and FILL OUT ONLINE AHEAD OF TIME the Bear Paw waiver

WATER OBSTACLE COURSE INSTRUCTIONS

If you choose to have your child do the Bear Paw Adventure Island obstacle. You must do the following TWO THINGS:

1) Fill out the waiver from the campground's website:   Bear Paw Waivers

2) Pre-pay the $30 fee using this church form:  Payment for Water Park Obstacle Course

Proper Attire
This is a church camp and we are asking all those attending to dress appropriately as Christians. This is very much inline with our theme to Holiness and that we are God's children different than the world. Below are guidelines for appropriate attire and the actions that may be taken for attendees who do not adhere to these guidelines:

  • Shorts must reach the mid-thigh. (This applies to both boys and girls)
  • No crop tops or spaghetti straps
  • No short / revealing clothing
  • Bathing suits must be one-piece suits that are not low cut.
  • If you are out of the water, then you must cover up in shirt/shorts. No walking around in bathing suits. (Again, this applies to both boys and girls)

Proper attire is required all weekend. Actions taken if the above rules are not followed:

  • First time, child will be given something else to wear
  • Second time, parents will be contacted to come get them

Parents, please check your child’s packed bag to make sure they have packed appropriate attire for the weekend.

Packing List

See below for a list of things to bring and not to bring. Please call or email me if you have any questions. Please do not send large bags or suitcases with your kids due to limited space in the tents.  A small bag like a backpack or duffle bag should be more than enough for 2 nights.

What to Bring:

  • Bible (do not forget!)
  • Agpeya (optional, we will have prayer handouts)
  • Sleeping Bag (or two warm blankets) and pillow
  • Flashlight
  • Clothes for three days and two nights including a light rain jacket/hat, a swimsuit, towel, and pair of long pants
  • Bathing suits must be modest and appropriate for a Christian gathering (no 2 piece bathing suits for girls please)
  • Personal grooming items including toothbrush, toothpaste, soap & shampoo (bring your own rather than assuming you can borrow from someone else)
  • Sunscreen
  • Water Bottle (so that we don’t have to use 1000 disposable cups!)
  • Mosquito repellent (VERY IMPORTANT)
  • Money- $15 should be more than enough for the weekend. No one should bring more than $25. Anything more than that is just wasted on junk food.
  • Games and sports equipment (optional).
  • Fishing rod and gear (optional).
  • Facilities include swimming pool, waterslide, basketball, volleyball, game room, fishing, boating, mini-golf, playground, playing fields.

What not to bring:

  • ANY Electronics: Phones, games, no outlets
  • ANY weapons Pocket knife, switchblade, numb-chucks, slingshot, bow and arrow, etc.
  • ANY Fireworks, firecrackers, blowtorches, matches, lighters, etc.
  • ANY rodents or worms, bugs or any animal.

Your parents will be called to pick you up from the campsite if there any behavioral issues or disobedient or disrespectful to the servants.

As always praying for a successful and fruitful weekend full or Christian fellowship and great weather!

If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to me.

Thank you,
